Holiday island Ostermundigen
The "holiday island" (Ferieninsel) programme in Ostermundigen takes place during eight weeks of the school holidays per year at the "Bernstrasse" day school or in the hangar (the youth and leisure club). We look after children from kindergarten age up to and including 6th grade – during the sports holiday week, in spring, summer and autumn.
The children have access to the school premises, a garden area and the schoolyard. The carers cook together with the children or have lunch at the nearby ‘Tertianum’ retirement home. Depending on the programme and the weather, the carers take a picnic or food to grill over a fire if they are going on excursion.

Information
The number of places is limited. Registrations are processed in the order in which they are received. The registration deadline is 30 days before the start of the school holidays. Depending on capacity, later registrations may also be accepted.
The municipality subsidises the places for families from Ostermundigen, depending on the family's financial circumstances. You can find more details about the rates in the flyer or in our general terms and payment conditions.
Children from other municipalities or cantons are welcome, but these places are only subsidised to a limited extent or not at all.
